Nina Elisabeth Cook is a postdoctoral teaching fellow in the Program in Writing and Communication. Her research centers on intersections between word and image and techniques of immersion in narrative. A scholar of the (seemingly ever expanding) long nineteenth century, her work has been published in Word & Image, Studies in the Novel, The Edgar Allan Poe Review, The CEA Critic, and elsewhere. She teaches courses on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century literature, visual culture, and adaptation studies. Two of her current First-Year Writing Intensive Seminars center on adaptations of the French fairy tale Beauty and the Beast and the history of the institution of marriage in England.
