Jacob Herrmann is the Associate Director of the Center for Academic and Professional Communication (CAPC), as well as a lecturer in the Program in Writing and Communication. His primary responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of the communication consultant program, including communication consultant hiring, training, and professional development. He holds an Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Kansas. Jacob has been working in writing centers since 2012, previously serving as an Administrative Intern, Workshop Coordinator, and Graduate Consultant. His research interests include writing center theory and practice, multi-modal composition, queer theory, and writing center studies, as well as maintaining an interest in medieval and early modern literature. Previously, his publications have appeared in Praxis, WLN,The Peer Review, and the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) edited collection, Teaching About Fake News. His forthcoming publications discuss applications of queer theory to consulting practice and communities of practice (CoP) as a framework for designing graduate writing groups.
