Florence received her B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from the National University of Singapore. 

Since coming to Houston in 2013, Florence has volunteered extensively in public schools within Harris County and worked as Staff Epidemiologist for the Houston Health Department during the Covid Pandemic. Florence joined Rice as Administrative Operations Specialist for Graduate Student Housing, and later at the Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies supporting internal divisions, on-campus partners, as well as community learners. She is currently the First Year Writing Program Manager and supports the work that is crucial in honing writing and communications skills for first year undergraduate students. Florence is also a Sid-Richardson College Associate, and is an Owl-liance Leader for Employee Health and Well-being.
