Christopher (Chris) Nicholson is the Assistant Director at the Center for Academic and Professional Communication (CAPC) as well as a PhD candidate in the Department of English and Creative Writing. He holds Bachelors degrees in English and Ecology (SUNY Plattsburgh), and a Masters in English literature with a focus in ecocriticism (University of Montana). As Assistant Director he manages the CAPC's consultation program: maintaining and updating the client-facing services of the CAPC to ensure relevance and accessibility for the Rice community, and providing mentorship, pedagogical training, and professional development opportunities for consultants. Chris approaches his work in the CAPC from a commitment to the importance of multimodal, public-facing, and interdisciplinary possibilities of academia, and from a pedagogical practice grounded in ecocomposition, genre theory, and a constructivist philosophy of education.
