My name is Victoria Graham, and I am a native Houstonian currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Sociology at Rice University. As a Gates Millennium Scholar, I earned my B.S. in Communication Studies at The University of Texas at Austin and my Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. After spending a decade working in public education, I joined Rice to pursue my research interests in race, gender, class, and education. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that everyone has unique strengths and experiences that can be harnessed for growth, especially in written and oral communication. I strive to create spaces where students feel supported, valued, and empowered to express themselves with clarity and confidence. Outside of academic work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children, traveling abroad and locally, and watching and playing sports. I look forward to working with you this year and hope to encourage not only strong communication skills but also a sense of curiosity and confidence.
